Cable Corporation of India Ltd., Bombay, were pioneers in introducing PVC Cables in India, under the trade name TROPODUR.

Thousand of kilometres of TROPODUR Cables have been supplied and their dependability has been proved over decades. TROPODUR Cables have proved an immediate success; this is the result of the outstanding TROPODUR PVC insulating and sheathing compound, strict quality control and in-process checking at all stages of manufacture.

TROPODUR is the successor in India to the well-known European brand 'Protodur' of Siemens AG., West Germany.

TROPODUR PVC insulating compound is a special modification of the original 'Protodur' formula, for climatic conditions in India. Thus TROPODUR as its name suggests, ensures tropical durability.

We have a modern compounds plant for preparing TROPODUR insulating and sheathing compounds, according to our own formulae and strict quality control. Further, raw materials meant for blending in the compounding plant are subject to comprehensive chemical, electrical and mechanical tests before acceptance.

TROPODUR 'Heavy Duty' Cables are manufactured according to IS: 1554 (Part I) 1988 up to 1100 V grade : 3.3 kV to 11 kV cables according to IS:1554 (Part 2) 1988. All TROPODUR Cables have the ISI Certification mark. TROPODUR Heavy Duty Cables are approved by the Fire Sectional Committee of the Insurance Association of India. TROPODUR Cables have been approved by the Chief Inspector of Explosives for use in hazardous locations. TROPODUR Mining Cables have also been accepted by the Director General of Mines Safety.

TROPODUR Cables have proved a success in the export field also, as they are accepted as being cables matching international quality standards. TROPODUR Cables required for export are manufactured against special orders, according to IS and International standards or as per customer's own specifications.

In addition to TROPODUR 'Heavy Duty' Cables, we also manufacture TROPOTHEN-X (XLPE) Cables as per IS:7098 (Part 1 and 2) up to 33 kV, TROPOTHEN-S (XLPE) Cables upto 230 kV as per IS:7098 (Part 3) and International standard , Paper Insulated Lead Sheathed Cables up to 33 kV as per IS:692.

TROPOFLEX & TROPOLAST Elastomer Insulated Cables up to 11 kV as per IS:9968 (Part 1 and 2). Flexible Trailing Cables and other cables for mines as per IS:14494 and other Special Elastomer cables as per client's standards.

MANUFACTURING PROGRAMME

For locations with higher ambient temperatures, TROPODUR power and control cables with special Heat Resisting type insulating compounds are also available. These cables can be operated continuously at 85°C conductor temperature.
